On July 10, the Catalan Association of Sommeliers (ACS) celebrated its annual event to honour Catalonia’s top sommelier for the year 2017. It was hosted at the Hotel Restaurant Villa Retiro in Xerta.
The night was full of emotions, surprises and smiles, with a dinner that celebrated the wines from the DO (appellation of origin) in the province of Tarragona. The evening was chaired by the Honorable Mrs. Meritxell Serret, the Minister for Agriculture for the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Catalan autonomous government.
Before dinner, guests enjoyed a showroom provided by the DO Terra Alta in which they could taste LaFou Els Amelers, a 100% Garnacha Blanca (White Grenache) from the LaFou Winery.
That night, Audrey Doré was awarded Best Sommelier in Catalonia in 2017 after a long day of tests in which a total of eight candidates competed against each other. Audrey Doré was born in Brittany and qualified as a philologist. She is currently working as a sommelier at El Celler de Can Roca. We send her our most sincere congratulations!
