LaFou Els Amelers in the selection of Garnacha Blanca wines of El País

Carlos Delgado, wine critic in El País, has published a selection of wines made with Garnacha Blanca. Select six, including LaFou Els Amelers.

In the article, the author highlights the return to a trend of wines made with indigenous varieties, including Garnacha Blanca, which “has acquired its own character that is expressed in great white wines; powerful, very aromatic, with medium-high acidity and rich in extracts”. He also highlights that “most of them are made in the Terra Alta DO, a region in inland Tarragona with the highest concentration of Garnacha in the world. Contributing to its strong personality are its predominantly calcareous soils (fossil dune), with a clayey texture known as panal, the garbinada and cierzo winds that modulate the warm, dry Mediterranean climate, giving it a certain continental character that contributes to the health of the vineyards and to good ripening”.

He also highlights the “resurgence of this variety, gaining popularity among producers and consumers thanks to its potential to create high quality white wines with a unique character”.

Scoring LaFou Els Amelers with 9,2/10 points, the wine stands out due to its careful elaboration. Also the “notes of white fruit, citrus freshness and suggestive notes of pastry. Tasty, well-structured, agile and lively”.
