LaFou is one of five wineries in Terra Alta participating in the GARSOL project, an innovative initiative aimed at strengthening the commercial positioning of wines made with white grenache through a scientific study of its terroir.
Driven by the wine cluster INNOVI, with support from ACCIÓ, the project conducts an in-depth analysis of soil characteristics, geology, and vineyard microbiology to establish the relationship between terroir and the quality and traits of the wines. In addition to LaFou Celler, the project also includes Herència Altés, Edetària, Bàrbara Forés, and Celler Piñol, alongside experts in soil science and oenological analysis.
Currently in its first phase -a detailed characterization of the soils in vineyard estates- GARSOL aims to deepen knowledge of this flagship grape variety of the region and enhance its differentiation and international recognition. All of this seeks to better communicate the uniqueness of Terra Alta wines and boost their market presence.
This commitment to research and innovation was also evident on March 25 during the Wine Innovation Week, organised by INNOVI, where LaFou Celler took part as a speaker. The event brought together cutting-edge viticulture initiatives and addressed key topics such as the use of drones, artificial intelligence, biodiversity and water management.
